About Delta Center

Vivint Smart Home Arena

The Vivint Smart Home Arena is located in Salt Lake City, Utah and is an indoor facility. You’ll find all sorts of sporting events happening here, along with plenty of activities for kids.

The Arena’s History

The Vivint Smart Home Arena has been known by other names since first opening its doors back in October 1991. When it just opened, the building was known as the Delta Center. But in 2006, EnergySolutions bought the naming rights after Delta filed for bankruptcy and didn’t renew its contract. However, EnergySolutions made a deal with a Provo-based security system provider and gave them a 10-year contract to name the building, which is why today it is known as Vivint Smart Home Arena. The Figure Skating Championships, speed skating competitions, and even 2010’s Winter Olympics have all been held at Vivint Smart Home Arena. The arena is home to the Utah Jazz at the moment, but it has been home to the Utah Blaze, Utah Starzz, Utah Grizzlies and even the Salt Lake Golden Eagles in the past.

The arena hosts many events throughout the year and is believed to provide the home team with an advantage, as many visiting NBA teams think this arena is the hardest place to play which might be due, in part, to its high noise level. Vivint Smart Home Arena has also hosted live musical performances and singers such as Carrie Underwood, Jonas Brothers, and Tool.

What’s so special about the Vivint Smart Home Arena?

The Vivint is an all-around family place offering activities for everyone. You can find a kids zone with a playground, a dining area, and over 500 televisions screens scattered throughout the building to keep up with what is going on during the game. Like the Ford Field, the Vivint Smart Home Arena has been featured in movies such as Legally Blonde 2: Red, White, and Blonde.
