About Gillette Stadium

Gillette Stadium

Looking for fun times, great shows, and amazing sporting events? Look no further than the Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, Massachusetts. Not only the stadium provides fans with comfortable seats and great food, but it’s probably one of the few stadiums that don’t make you feel like a sardine. Gillette Stadium also serves as the administrative office for the NFL’s New England Patriots and the MLS’ New England Revolution.

The History

When it opened back in 2002, the Gillette Stadium was meant to replace the Foxboro Stadium. With a seating capacity of 65,878, the stadium provides fans with 89 luxury suites and 5,876 club seats, all owned and operated by Kraft Sports Group. Prior to being known as the Gillette Stadium, it was called CMGI Field. The first official game played at Gillette Stadium was a soccer game by the New England Revolution. As for the first musical show hosted at the Gillette Stadium, Jeremiah Freed played for a crowd of shouting fans back in June 9, 2002. Today, the New England Patriots sell out every single home game. It doesn’t matter if it’s preseason, playoffs, or a regular-season game, the Gillette Stadium gets packed.

Besides the New England Patriots and the New England Revolution soccer games, other events held at Gillette Stadium include the Eastern conference final, FIFA women’s World Cup and NCAA men’s lacrosse championships. Monster Jam has also been rocking the Gillette Stadium crowds since 2014 and several other musical talents such as Brad Paisley, Toby Keith, and Green Day have all played here.
