About Music Hall at Fair Park

Music Hall at Fair Park

Texas does it up when it comes to recreation. One of the biggest city parks in Dallas, Fair Park, is no exception to the rule. This 277-acre park has it all. With green space, cultural attractions like historic buildings and museums, and one of the grandest old performance spaces you’ll find west of the Mississippi, the Music Hall at Fair Park is a 3,240-seat indoor performance area that’s not to be missed.

The History of the Music Hall at Fair Park

Constructed in 1925 and featuring a Spanish Baroque architectural style complete with six sweeping, dome-capped stair towers and an arcade that overlooks the entire park, the Music Hall at Fair Park began its life in grand style, hosting countless concert and theater performances. In 1954, this indoor theater was updated with air conditioning for the comfort of theatergoers, and in 1972 the lobby was expanded, and a fine dining restaurant was added. The theater underwent yet another refurb in 1999, which brought it into its current form, a thoroughly modern and magical performance space that’s bedecked in Art Deco grandeur.
