About Oriole Park at Camden Yards

Oriole Park at Camden Yards

Baltimore is a tough town that takes no guff but knows greatness when it sees it. Is it any wonder that the ballpark for its hometown heroes, the Orioles, is as unique and iconoclastic as its fans?

Oriole Park at Camden Yards, located in the Camden Yards Sports Complex in downtown Baltimore just a few blocks from Inner Harbor, is a vibrant piece of the city’s heart. There’s nothing better than getting Baltimore Orioles tickets for a home game at this great venue!

The History of the Park

Oriole Park was, at one time, one of the most ultra-modern ballparks in the league. Constructed in 1992 to replace Memorial Stadium, the new park was the first of the new wave “retro” style parks. This represented a real difference, as before this the multi-use stadium was the prevailing design. When the Baltimore Colts left town, though, there was no need for the multi-use Memorial Stadium anymore. Oriole Park’s retro design proved so popular that it influenced newly-constructed retro stadiums for years afterward!

What Makes Oriole Park at Camden Yards so Special?

The ballpark features a first-of-its-kind two-tiered bullpen area, it is the first MLB park since Ebbets Field to feature straight wall segments for its entire outfield wall and was the site where Cal Ripken Jr. broke Lou Gehrig’s record. It’s a great ballpark, so don’t miss a chance to catch an Orioles game if you’re in town!
