About Dodgers vs. Mets

Dodgers vs Mets Tickets

The Los Angeles Dodgers and New York Mets have an interesting relationship. If the Dodgers hadn’t left Brooklyn for the west coast, the Mets may not even exist. In fact, the Mets have blue in their logo as an homage to the history the Dodgers made while in New York. But over the years, the Mets and Dodgers formed a long-distance rivalry, meeting in the postseason in 1988, 2006, and 2015.

Dodgers vs Mets

Without question, the 2015 postseason series between the Mets and Dodgers is the most memorable. In Game 2, Dodgers second baseman Chase Utley, who was already despised by Mets fans for his days with the Phillies, made a dirty slide into second base while breaking up a double-play, breaking the leg of Mets shortstop Ruben Tejada in the process. The Mets were none too pleased, as Utley got away with the dirty play and the Dodgers won the game. But the Mets got the last laugh, winning the series and ultimately advancing to the World Series.

In addition to some bad blood between the Mets and Dodgers to help fuel the rivalry, both teams offer an ideal setting for a baseball game. In Los Angeles, there is Dodger Stadium, which is one of the oldest ballparks in the majors but remains a wonderful place to take in a game. Meanwhile, the Mets have a newer stadium, opening Citi Field in 2009. While it has all of the bells and whistles of a modern stadium, Citi Field also has a facade that’s reminiscent of Ebbets Field, which is where the Dodgers played during their tenure in Brooklyn.
