About the Seattle Mariners

Seattle Mariners Tickets

The Seattle Mariners may be relatively new to professional baseball, but they’ve quickly solidified their place in MLB history. The team was created in 1977 when the Seattle Pilots left town for Wisconsin as the Milwaukee Brewers – but it wasn’t an easy go at first.

The Mariners got off to a rough start when they lost their very first game spectacularly, giving up 7 runs to the California Angels and getting shut out in the process. Their season would end with a 64-98 record –  not exactly an auspicious start, but it wouldn’t be long before the Ms got their feet under them.

Coming Into Their Own

A decade and a half of team-building and restructuring would pay off for the Mariners in a big way. In 1991, Seattle finished their season with an overall .512 record, finally winning more games than they lost. The Mariners continued chipping away at success, which came in 1995 when they won the American League Division Series against the New York Yankees, even though they would lose their shot at a pennant to the Cleveland Indians.

At this point, the Mariners had cemented their reputation as serious contenders. Thanks in no small part to the hard work of Ken Griffey Jr., the Ms made it to the playoffs three more times between 1995 and 2001, winning the division title twice but ultimately shut-out of the pennant race – both time by those damn Yankees.

Reaching for that Star

In the years since their 2001 run, the Mariners have yet to make a postseason appearance. The situation is far from dire, though – Seattle has been pushing hard to remain competitive by finishing 2nd or 3rd in the AL West. Based on the team’s persistence and hard work, it’s no surprise they’re staying relevant as a team to watch.

Will this be the Mariners’ year? No way of knowing for sure. The quest for the pennant and beyond is a major motivating factor for the Seattle Mariners and their tireless, loyal fans. It’s just a matter of time before we see them taking home the top spot. Pretty good for a team that’s only been around a fraction of the time of many other MLB franchises!

Frequently Asked Questions

Where do the Mariners play?

Mariners home games are played at T-Mobile Park, where the team has been hosted since 1999. This retractable-roof park holds more than 47,000 fans, rain or shine. Many older Mariners fans still affectionately call the stadium Safeco Field, which was its original name until 2018, but most agree that “T-Mobile Park” has a better ring to it – pun intended.

When do Mariners tickets go on sale?

Though the regular season starts at the end of March, Mariners tickets go on sale well before that. With the MLB planning out the entire regular season for all its franchises well in advance, you can shop for Mariners tickets for home games as well as away games whenever you want.

When is the best time to buy cheap Mariners tickets?

If you’re looking to get cheap Mariners tickets, waiting until the last minute can actually help you save some cash. The trick is that unsold tickets obviously don’t make any money, so it’s better for these tickets to sell and at least bring in a little something than nothing at all. If you’re buying tickets from a reseller, it’s even more likely that ticket prices will get more affordable as you approach the date of the game, as resellers don’t make back their investment unless they move all their stock.

What’s the best way to buy cheap Mariners tickets?

Buying your tickets late will indeed result in better prices, but you should also consider where you buy your tickets. Online ticket marketplaces cater to fans and resellers and are an ideal place to find excellent savings. With resellers originally getting their tickets at wholesale prices, their resale price is usually low to begin with, which means you’ll have that much more money still in your pocket at the end of the day. Combine that with the fact that resellers are super motivated to move those tickets at whatever price they can, and you’ll be in good shape when it comes to getting cheap Mariners tickets.

Why should I choose Gametime over other ticket marketplaces?

There are a lot of tickets marketplaces out there, but Gametime offers a unique experience for cheap Mariners tickets (or cheap tickets for any other event). Our affordable services fees help keep prices low, so you can go to the game when you want to. Our virtual seating chart also shows you exactly what your seats will look like at T-Mobile Park when you’re shopping for Mariners tickets – no surprises when you use Gametime!

More than that, it’s our goal to make sure you never miss a minute of the game. In fact, we guarantee that we’ll get your cheap tickets to you in time for game day. Bottom line: we’ve got your back when it comes to getting cheap tickets to Mariners games.
