About Bulls vs. Trail Blazers

Bulls vs Blazers Tickets

For two teams that play in different conferences, the Chicago Bulls and Portland Trail Blazers have a remarkable history and rivalry with one another. There was once a time when they were the two preeminent franchises in the NBA. In 1993, there was even a video game named after their memorable playoff series. Obviously, the Bulls-Blazers rivalry has faded a little over the years. But the annual games between the Bulls and Trail Blazers are still a special event for fans on both sides, especially those hoping to re-live the glory days of this great NBA rivalry.

Bulls vs Trail Blazers

The Bulls-Blazers rivalry surprisingly dates back to the 1970s when the Bulls were in the Western Conference. Chicago was actually Portland’s opponent in the first playoff series in franchise history. Behind Bill Walton, the Trail Blazers beat the Bulls 2-1 in the first round on their way to winning the 1977 NBA title. Of course, the most memorable series between these teams was the 1992 NBA Finals when the Bulls were seeking back-to-back titles. The great Clyde Drexler led the Blazers to two wins in a tight and competitive series. However, Michael Jordan and the Bulls were too much, winning the series in six games to capture their second of three straight NBA championships.

Needless to say, a lot has changed since that series, including the home venue of both teams. The Bulls now play their home games at the United Center, which has the largest capacity of any NBA arena and has become one of the country’s most important venues for sports and entertainment. Meanwhile, the Trail Blazers got a new home in 1995 when the arena known as the Moda Center opened. Originally known as the Rose Garden, the Moda Center has a unique design that makes it one of the loudest arenas in the NBA, giving the Trail Blazers a special home-court advantage.
