More About the Nets

Once upon a time, in a different league altogether

The Nets were founded in 1967 as the New Jersey Americans and played in the American Basketball Association, a rival league to the NBA that began the same year. At the end of the season, the team moved to Long Island, renaming themselves the New York Nets, which stuck until the ABA joined the NBA in 1976. The following year, the Nets moved back to New Jersey, where they remained for the next 35 years. It was only in 2012 that the team would return to New York again.

The move to Brooklyn

Relocating back to New York in 2012 has certainly been a step in the right direction for the team, which has once again been rechristened as the Brooklyn Nets.
