About the Mississippi State Football

Mississippi State Football Tickets

It’s no secret that the SEC is the best conference in college football, most years, and the Mississippi State Bulldogs have been a part of that success from the beginning. Granted, MSU isn’t the most prestigious program in the conference. At times, the Bulldogs have struggled, making cheap Mississippi State football tickets widely available. However, the Bulldogs have had plenty of big moments in the spotlight. The last decade, in particular, has been one of MSU’s most consistent periods. The Bulldogs have achieved new heights in recent years, creating a high demand for Mississippi State football tickets.

King of Kings

Some of the best moments in Mississippi State football history came under Allyn McKeen, who coached the Bulldogs from 1939 to 1948. In 1940, McKeen coached an undefeated season that ended with Mississippi State winning the Orange Bowl. The following year, McKeen led the Bulldogs to their first and only SEC championship in a season that included wins over Alabama, Auburn, and in-state rival Ole Miss.

Back with Jack

Much of Mississippi State’s success in recent years can be traced back to head coach Jackie Sherrill, who gave the program a much-needed spark during the 1990s. Sherrill came to Starkville in 1991 and took over a struggling program. However, he took the Bulldogs to a bowl game in three of his first four seasons. In 1998, MSU won the SEC West and played in the conference championship game for the first time. The Bulldogs were even better the next season, finishing 1999 ranked in the top-15 for the first time in more than 30 years.

Hitting Their Stride

Sherrill proved that Mississippi State could have a winning football program, and in 2010, Dan Mullen helped make that a reality again. Mullen created the kind of stability that was rarely seen in Starkville before that and continued even after he left the program in 2017. When veteran Mike Leach was hired by Mississippi State in 2020, he took over a program that had been to 10 straight bowl games, setting the Bulldogs to strive for new heights in the years to come.
