After Hurricane Katrina devastated New Orleans in 2005, the Saints were unable to use the Superdome. Without a true home stadium, the team went 3-13 in what would become Haslett’s final season with the team.

Fortunately, the Superdome was repaired and in working condition for the team’s triumphant and emotional return at the start of the 2006 season. That was also the first season under new head coach Sean Payton and the first after signing quarterback Drew Brees. Together, Payton and Brees have transformed the franchise. Not including the year that Payton was suspended for the infamous bounty scandal, the Payton-Brees tandem has taken the Saints to the playoffs seven times in 12 seasons. Most importantly, together they won Super Bowl XLIV in 2009, giving the Saints a long-awaited championship.
