About the Harvard Basketball
Harvard Basketball Tickets
The Ivy League doesn’t get a lot of love on the basketball court, but the Harvard Crimson is starting to become an exception to that. In recent years, it’s been increasingly difficult to find cheap Harvard basketball tickets with the Crimson becoming an Ivy League powerhouse. However, the team’s success doesn’t stop in conference play. The Crimson has proven themselves capable of competing with power-conference teams and even beating ranked teams, increasing the demand for Harvard basketball tickets whether the Crimson play at home or on the road.
All About Tommy
There is little about Harvard basketball that’s noteworthy before the arrival of head coach Tommy Amaker in 2007. Before Amaker, the Crimson had made just one appearance in the NCAA Tournament (in 1946) and had never won the Ivy League championship. However, as a former Duke player, assistant coach, and a decade of head-coaching experience at Seton Hall and Michigan, Amaker brought instant credibility to Harvard basketball. After enduring an 8-22 campaign in his first season with the Crimson, Amaker led the Crimson to a 21-7 record in just his third season.
Ivy League Takeover
Under Amaker, Harvard has become the pre-eminent basketball program in the Ivy League. Starting with the 2009-10 campaign, the Crimson won at least 20 games in six straight seasons. During that time, Harvard won at least a share of the Ivy League title five times and played in the NCAA Tournament in four straight seasons from 2012 to 2015. In 2013, the 14-seeded Crimson upset New Mexico for the first NCAA Tournament win in Harvard history. Despite a couple of down seasons after their string of Big Dance appearances, Amaker led Harvard to a share of the Ivy League regular-season title in 2018 and 2019, as the Crimson reasserted themselves as the kings of Ivy League basketball.
