About the Boston College Basketball
Boston College Basketball Tickets
While often overlooked, the Boston College Eagles have been a key component in the college basketball world for a long time. The Eagles were a part of the Big East during its heyday and currently take up residence in the ACC. Being part of elite conferences has ensured that last-minute Boston Colleges remain in high demand. Even during their down years, the Eagles have talented plays and play opponents that are worth the price of admission, making cheap Boston College basketball tickets a hot commodity in Bean Town.
Led by a Legend
Some of BC’s best seasons were under the leadership of Boston Celtics legend Bob Cousy, who was the head coach of the Eagles from 1963 to 1969. The Eagles won more than 20 games in four of Cousy’s six seasons. Cousy also led Boston College to the NCAA Tournament twice, including a trip to the Elite Eight in 1967. The Eagles were also the NIT runner-up in 1969.
Belly of the Beast
In 1979, Boston College became a charter member of the Big East, which would ultimately become one of the best conferences in college basketball history. Being in the Big East was both challenging and rewarding for the Eagles. During the early days of the Big East, BC had some of its most memorable seasons. The Eagles won the Big East title in 1981, which preceded a run to the Sweet 16 that year and an Elite Eight appearance the following year. Boston College returned to the Sweet 16 in 1983 and 1985 in one of the most successful eras of BC basketball.
ACC Blues
Despite some rough years, the Eagles reached the top of the Big East early in the 21st century under head coach Al Skinner. They won the conference title in 2001, kicking off a stretch of seven NCAA Tournament appearances in nine seasons. Skinner’s tenure also included BC’s jump to the ACC, another powerhouse basketball conference. However, a few years after joining the ACC, the Eagles found themselves toward the bottom of the league most years. But with BC’s history, it could be just a matter of time until the Eagles fly back to the top of the ACC and start competing amongst the league’s heavyweights.
