About the Wofford Basketball

Wofford Basketball Tickets

One of the great things about college basketball is you never know where you’re going to find the next great mid-major program. Not too long ago, that program was found at Wofford College in the city of Spartanburg, South Carolina. Before 2010, there was nothing but cheap Wofford basketball tickets available to any fan who wanted them. However, that quickly changed over the following decade, as the Terriers became giant killers and a force in the Southern Conference. Nowadays, the Terriers are a well-known mid-major, and last-minute Wofford basketball tickets are in high demand.

Young and Exciting

Relatively speaking, the Terriers are one of the youngest programs in the country. Wofford has only been playing at the Division I level since 1997. Naturally, the first few seasons were difficult for the Terrier. However, things started to turn around in 2002 when Mike Young took over the program. Granted, it took a little time for Young to find his footing, but Wofford was patient, and that patience eventually paid off. The 2008-09 season was Wofford’s first with a winning record at the Division I level. A year later, the Terriers won the SoCon regular-season and tournament championships to advance to the NCAA Tournament, a feat they repeated the following year.

Up the Ladder

After winning the SoCon championship in 2010 and 2011, Wofford has remained one of the best teams in the conference year after year. The Terriers returned to the NCAA Tournament in 2014 and 2015. But nothing can compare to what Wofford accomplished during the 2018-19 campaign. The Terriers went undefeated in conference play and worked their way into the top-25 for the first time in program history. After receiving a #7 seed in the NCAA Tournament, Wofford won a tournament game for the first time, knocking off Seton Hall before nearly upsetting #2 Kentucky. The Terriers finished the season 30-5 and while Young left the program after that season, he did so after establishing Wofford as a SoCon powerhouse and a legitimate mid-major that’s worth watching.
